Welcome to the Facsimile Index!

Starting off? The website details the world in a more official capacity, and in more “ready-to-consume” format. The wiki (you are here) is significantly more verbose, but also updated as lore discussion happens, as opposed to the website that receives incremental updates. While there is an attempt to prevent content here growing dry, it is an unfortunate circumstance of detailing every established idea. Prepare to read.

World

  • Oneirum
A magical substance that formed the basis of technology in the Old World and certain modern technologies in the current world. Said to make human wishes and desires a reality.
    • Magic
Humans and Aberrants are capable of magic based on their Legend. Through the latent power of Oneirum, they can call forth feats that do not have qualms for things like thermodynamics and physics, though they are also often self-limiting.
  • The Storm
The Storm is, put simply, the reason why humanity has holed up into giant fortresses of cities. Wreaks havoc on terrain through a combination of meteorological factors and Oneirum contamination.
  • Cities
Giant fortresses where the remainder of civilization on the planet have found homes in. They are mega-cities with large walls wrapped around them with many, many lines of defense against the physical and magical.
  • Races
Beings sapient enough to identify themselves and think they have free will come in three flavors: Humans, Synthetics and everything else.
  • Harkemann Robotics
The original manufacturer, patent owner and developer of synthetics before the world collapsed.

Cities

  • City Authority
More commonly known as “The Authority.” Much of the resources of the Authority is dedicated to civil protection, but they also coordinate coordinate construction projects and handle contractor documentation.
    • Patent Office
Enforces and legalizes patents created by corporations.
    • Bureau of Security
Uses violence to protect Cities from both Manifestations and threats from civillians or out-of-control Aberrants. Also does basic “housekeeping” and takes orders from City Authority administration (incl. the Mayor), the Advisor of Security, the Commissioner of the Walls and Commissioner of the Interior. Effectively the “military.”
    • The High and Low Courts
Handles disputes that are opted to be handled by courts. The High Courts specifically handle conflict between corporations that both cannot afford to handle it with skirmishes.
    • Bureau of Education
Offers public education to City dwellers. Yay!
    • Bureau of Civic Maintenance
Performs maintenance on public services, along with taking care of demilitarized areas between districts and land used by corporations owned by the City.
    • Bureau of Urban Development
Constructs new areas and services, along with doing reconstruction beyond the capabilities of the Civic Maintenance Bureau.
    • Surveyor Affairs Office
With the establishment of Associations, provides a centralized management solution to certifying and tracking information about contractors.

The Warrens & Outside

  • Warrens
A general term for the buried ruins below the surface.
    • Diving
The act of exploring areas heavily contaminated by unrestrained Oneirum. The name is derived from “diving into the Warrens.”
  • The Outside
General term for areas on the surface of the planet directly exposed to the Storm.

Megacorps

Megacorps are huge conglomerates that not only hold influence in their city of origin, but also stretch beyond into other cities (including Dyon).

⭐You are Here! Enjoy your stay!

Contractor Associations

Contractors can go independent, but having an Association to back you up as insurance or as altercation backup is always a good boon to have in the City and especially dives.

Organizations

  • Halcyon
A terrorist organization that believes it is possible to undo the destruction of the world by destroying Oneirum. Through their leader’s eldrich abilities, they render magic useless and indoctrinate these embrittled persons into their ranks.
  • Carvers
A loose term describing those whose lives have descended to crime, working through a loose web of networks and connections to secure a livable life of stealing.
