Carvers

Not necessarily an organization in themselves, the term “Carver” refers to someone whose livelihood has descended to what most Dyon citizens would call “petty crime.”

These people tend to be those caught in debt loops, people trying to crawl out holes far too deep for society to save them now. Some of these people become easy targets for evangelization, but some adopt a lifestyle of scavenging and networking that takes over their entire life and livelihood. The latter of which is both a skill and a circumstance that determines whether any single Carver, or a group of Carvers, turns up face down in a storm drain. Many medium-status individuals are eager to find Carvers; it’s a semi-risky investment that can pay back ten-fold, mostly because Carvers are forced to ask for low prices for their scavenging spoils for many reasons.

Essentially, to use a metaphor, the life of many Carvers exists in a precarious balance of being forced underwater by debt or life conditions, and each sale can be thought of a single, brief breath above the surface.
